“Lord moved from Ghana last year and started as a junior at Horizon. He wanted to challenge himself with Honor, AP and dual enrollment classes and ended up having all A’s from these classes and highest GPA among juniors. By when he took his ACT last April he got only a 22 composite. He never took ACT in June and didn’t do any studies during summer. When he started his senior he has a good GPA and good ranking (2nd), but a bad ACT score. He wanted to apply to top colleges but he was aware of that none of them will accept him with that ACT score. He decided to focus on ACT before it is too late. Also I promised him if he quit his job and work for at least 4 hours a day I will take him to library every day. He kept his promise, quit his job, and ready to go to library every day for one month or more after school.” Mrs. Aykan (HSA Guidance Counselor)
“It comes to a point in life that we realize that we are not affecting life. At that time, it is life that is affecting us. It is as if we all always in defense defending the undesirable things that come our way. My life changed when I changed position; I decided I would be a striker. I will strike my education and life in general very hard.” I never liked those days where I had to work hard or study hard. I think the main takeaway is getting to the “top” is hard but once you get there, the view is always classic

“Time doesn’t matter; it will pass anyways, what matters is how you consume it.
Horizon is a bridge that helped me cross many challenges to get to this stage in life. Its atmosphere made it feel like home. The teachers and counselors treated me as one of their children. The students that I met here are not just my classmates; they are my family. The diversity that the schools has brightened my mind and helped me became more open-minded.” Mohamed Moumen HSA Class of 2K15
